Popenguine ACTIVITIES

Popenguine activities

From the beach, pirogues can take you on for some sea fishing. You can go to the Cap Naze and the famous cliffs of Popenguine walking along the beach…

Popenguine is known as the favorite holiday destination for Dakar inhabitants and the Senegalese Presidents and it is also famous for its Catholic pilgrimage on Whit Sunday at the basilica of Notre Dame de la Délivrande and for the Black Virgin.

It is also a well-known nature reserve where you can admire extremely colourful birds, butterflies, pelicans and other animals such as antilopes and monkeys…

You can also visit the nearby bush villages or the fisherman villages such as Ndayanne, Guerreo and you can even go farther up to La Somone and its lagoon or the reserve of Bandia…

You could organise trips for the day with or without a guide walking or using a cart.

If you want to go for a longer trip to Sine Saloum, Joal Fadiouth, Gorée Island, Lake Retba (Pink Lake), the turtles village, Acrobaobab, Thiès or Dakar, our bush taxi that is at your disposal will take you there.

Inside the village, you could visit the weaver’s workshop, discover Awa’s sand paintings, Fatou’s shop with its wonderful Wax and other colourful African fabrics !

We also organise some basics to Batik and Bogolan techniques with Zico, an artist who creates beautiful clothes and who will reveal his secrets in painting on fabric.

Mariama and Aminata are ready to introduce you to traditional Senegalese massages.
